The Wigwam Hotel
Litchfield Park, Arizona

Our historic hotel in Arizona is a direct descendant of the state’s early cotton ranching business. When Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company discovered that long-staple cotton extended the life of its tires, the company bought 16,000 acres of Arizona land for cotton farming. In 1918, the company established the Organization House, the first building on the site, as lodging for ranch suppliers. These guests suggested that it would be a great place to spend a winter vacation, as did Goodyear executives who sometimes brought their families when visiting the farm. On Thanksgiving Day, 1929, The Wigwam officially opened its doors as a guest ranch with enough rooms for 24 guests. The first nine-hole golf course was built in 1930, expanding to 18 holes in 1941. Although this resort and hotel in Litchfield Park has steadily grown over the past 85 years, a portion of the original structure,The Organizational House, remains as the cornerstone of The Wigwam’s authenticity and southwestern charm.

Soniat House
New Orleans, Louisiana

During the period 1829-33 French sugar plantation owner Joseph Soniat Duffossat and his eldest son Robert built three French Quarter townhouses. The custom of the day, for those with means and social standing, was to have a residence in town. Such homes were built both for their convenience, and most importantly, to entertain and receive guests. Thanks to the efforts of Rodney and Frances Smith these homes are still serving their intended purpose. After acquiring the properties in 1982 a major undertaking began, its purpose was to combine the modern and the historic. The goal was to provide modern conveniences while preserving the architectural integrity of the original design. The 31 guest rooms were furnished and decorated with French and English antiques and custom European fabrics. The accolades have been many over the years, because the result is a singular hotel property. Upon entering Soniat House a sense of timelessness and cloistered serenity washes over you. Guests often sit for hours in the two courtyards literally soaking up the atmosphere. The historic ambiance is palpable and unmistakably genuine. Moving from the front desk and into your room, one comes to realize that all the modern amenities you might not expect are indeed present, and in no way detract. This is the counterintuitive reality that makes Soniat House much beloved and appreciated as a one of a kind experience. It does not get any more authentic nor does it get any more comfortable.

The Dolan House
Lincoln, New Mexico

If you like western history this is the place for you. Built by James Dolan one of the participants in the Lincoln County War. The Dolan House is a turnkey business/residence.
Currently there is one room for B&B, a gift shop and small restaurant. If you don't want to run a business, it could be quickly converted to a residence consisting of five bedrooms and two full baths for a total of 11 rooms.
The conversion would be easy - just move out the equipment you don't want and move in your furniture.
There would not be a lot of cleaning and or repainting unless you want to change the color.
There is a large 3 car attached garage, a three-sided storage shed and an additional retail building "The Outpost" with Highway 380 frontage that can be used as a store, rental or what have you.

Country Willows
Ashland, Oregon

Built in 1896, the Inn was once a working horse farm and remnants of its past are evident in the many farm implements found throughout the property. The barn once housed a stallion fertility station; over the years rooms in both the inn and the barn were added and fashioned in a craftsman manner to reflect its original heritage. Throughout its history as both a farm and an inn, perennial gardens have been planted, fences mended, and animals nurtured, a testament to the on-going rhythm and life of this Ashland farmstead/inn. Gresham, Oregon

Forest Springs sits nestled in the Gresham Buttes. On 3 acres with a parkland setting, we sit at the base of more than 2000 acres of forested open space. The English Cottage Home perched on a bluff well removed from the street was built in 1907. Originally part of the 1885 Land Grant to The Heiney Family, the Bed and Breakfast is now on the Local Gresham Historic Registry. Craftsman touches abound and all the common rooms are generous in size and comfort. In remodeling and decorating, we have honored the house's original nature while not forgetting modern life's comforts and convenience. All of our furnishings reflect the home's heyday from the twenties through the fifties. We have exceptional pieces of American Pottery and much of our furniture was imported from Paris and Barcelona. The grounds are always a work in progress. Adding to the abundance of Cedar, Fir, Chestnut and native maples, we have added 15,000 daffodils, 60 rose bushes, and 30 Miniature Japanese Maples. The restoration of the original terraced gardens is well underway and there is almost always something in bloom.

Speedwell Forge B&B

We offer an experience like no other

The Speedwell Forge Bed and Breakfast in Litiz, PA is steeped in the rich history of Lancaster County. Built in 1760, the main house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

Speedwell Forge has not always been a Lancaster County bed and breakfast. Its story begins in 1734, when Peter Grubb, a mason, literally stumbled upon one of the largest and richest iron deposits ever found in the US. He named the area Cornwall, and he built a bloomery to smelt the ore and produce cast (or “pig”) iron. In 1742, this was replaced by the Cornwall Furnace, which is now a National Historic Landmark and offers regular tours.

John Rutledge House Inn
Charleston, South Carolina

John Rutledge, one of the fifty five signers of the U.S. Constitution, built his home in 1763. Now exquisitely restored, it is one of only fifteen homes belonging to those signers to survive, mand the only one to now accommodate overnight hotel guests. History records that George Washington called here in 1791. An entry in his diary shows a breakfast with Mrs. Rutledge.
A loving rejuvenation has restored the beautiful details of the home's 18th and 19th century architecture: the elaborately carved Italian marble fireplaces, the original plaster moldings, the inlaid floors and the graceful ironwork.

Magnolia House and Gardens
Clover, South Carolina

Magnolia House and Gardens started life out as a private residence in the newly formed Town of Clover in 1890. At that time, railroad tracks ran through the center of town, and a water tank made Clover a necessary stop along the rail line. Although it's known as the Sifford House by the locals, I decided it should be named for the huge Magnolia trees that grace the front yard.

Antoinette's Cottage
New Braunfels, Texas

The fine house is a classic example of architectural layering. The 1855 original house was built of timber framed Fachwerk, infilled with adobe bricks and hand plastered walls. The walls and floors are made from cedar trees planed on one side to accept the boards. In 1875 or so, an Italianate living room with bay window, and ell shaped porch and two bedrooms were added to the front. About 1910, the old outside kitchen burned, so a new one was added in board and batten style, with a side porch, which was later enclosed.
This charming small bed and breakfast is located less than 200 steps to Texas' Oldest continuously operating dance hall, Gruene Hall. In the heart of all the shopping and dining, you are steps to tubing on the Guadelupe river. Wineries abound and many tasting rooms are within a block or so. Festivals take place year round in the adjacent parking lot for Gruene Hall.
The owner who restored this home, Cheryle Fuller, is also the town historian, and was instrumental in saving the community from demolition. She wrote the development plan, did the research to get the town listed on The National Register of Historic Places, wrote the deed restrictions' protective covenants (possibly the first in the nation), defended them in court, bringing the major networks to town to cover the lawsuit, organized the music festival to pay the legal fees and brought the TV stations back to cover the festival.

Rabbit Hill Inn
Lower Waterford, Vermont

Once upon a time in a tiny, magical place barely touched by time, there lived a clever man by the name of Samuel Hodby. It was the late 1700s and hundreds of travelers passed through this very spot. Their journey carried them between the distant North of Montreal, Canada and the bustling American harbors of Portland, Maine and Boston, Massachusetts. Samuel knew that his land in Lower Waterford, Vermont was the mid-way point on this major trade route. And being a clever entrepreneur, he recognized that the weary tradesmen as well as loggers on the Connecticut River below needed a place to buy provisions, enjoy a bit of ale, and rest bodies tired by the 18-day round trip. And thus began the tradition of hospitality in what was to become RABBIT HILL INN, and in what was then called the Samuel Hodby Tavern, an actual tavern, general store and provider of overnight lodging.

Sheridan Inn
Sheridan, Wyoming

The Sheridan Inn's significance in our nation's history lies primarily in its direct connection with William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody, who developed and sold the concept of the Inn to the railroad. As part owner, he directed hotel management, and even auditioned new members for his touring company the "Wild West" show from the front porch. Buffalo Bill pulled together one of the most interesting cast of true-to-life characters that has probably ever been assembled. Some he had known as a young frontier scout and others he met later as a Pony Express rider, military scout, cattle rancher, mine owner, or in one of this many other enterprises. You will know the characters as icons of the American West, while others you may have never heard of previously but they are all people you will want to know. Together, they have helped shape how we as Americans see ourselves and how others in the world see us.

The Old House Goldrush Guesthouse
Clinton, British Columbia, Canada

Originally built in the mid 1800s by a Mexican packer named Valenzuela, the old house was partially completed before he moved to Dog Creek, as he felt the Gold Rush was passing him by. He was responsible for much of the building in the Dog Creek settlement. He returned and completed the old house in approximately 1865. It was a Road House for many years after the Gold Rush for the freight haulers who wagon trained their freight from Ashcroft to points north, for example, the Gang Ranch. It was lived in by many families over the next 100 years and was found by the Canuel family in 1992 in a state of collapse. The Canuel family disassembled the entire structure, moved it back from the road, and placed it on a proper foundation. It was reconstructed log by log with new logs for the first three rounds (as the others were rotten) and stands as the beautiful old home you see today.

Tyntesfield
Bristol, United Kingdom

Tyntesfield is a Victorian Gothic Revival house and estate near Wraxall, North Somerset, England. The house is a Grade I listed building named after the Tynte baronets, who had owned estates in the area since about 1500. The location was formerly that of a 16th-century hunting lodge, which was used as a farmhouse until the early 19th century. In the 1830s a Georgian mansion was built on the site, which was bought by English businessman William Gibbs, whose huge fortune came from guano used as fertilizer. In the 1860s Gibbs had the house significantly expanded and remodeled; a chapel was added in the 1870s. The Gibbs family owned the house until the death of Richard Gibbs in 2001.
