As featured in The New York Times (Oct. 8, 2006) this beautiful historic home in the heart of Port Jefferson Village has been meticulously restored with attention to original detailing & period furnishings. This three story structure with a porch was the boyhood home of L. Frank Tooker, author and editor, who introduced the writings of Joseph Conrad to the American literary scene. Though beautifully renovated, the house still retains some of its original features such as five fireplaces (two of which are useable as of 2007) each with its own kindling closet as well as a double parlor with original pillars and moldings.

On the inside, a total of 2,750 sq ft. of living space reflects the perfect combination of historic detailing and modern amenities. On the outside, the award-winning front garden as well as the professionally landscaped backyard provide the perfect atmosphere for both quiet reflection and entertainment of family and friends.

The house sits on .15 acres. To the right of the entry foyer is a double parlor with two fireplaces, one of which has been converted to gas. Straight ahead from the entrance door, wood floors lead into the formal dining room with a wood burning fireplace. On one side of the dining room is a sunroom, which floods the house with natural light and on the other is an office with a skylight and access to a red poured concrete (with brick impression) patio in the back.

The eat-in-kitchen was renovated in about 2002 with everything new: Windows; A skylight; Stainless steel appliances including a six burner Viking gas stove; Double ovens; Corian countertops; Cherry cabinets and built in speakers in the ceiling. The laundry area with an outside entrance is next to the kitchen. A beautifully redone half bath with period detailing that is only 2 years old (as of 2007) completes the first floor.

Restored wood stairs and banister lead to the second floor where there are two bedrooms - each with a fireplace - and a full bath with double sink and whirlpool tub. The third floor is composed of the master suite with its own bath (shower stall) and west facing windows which overlook Port Jefferson Harbor and its beautiful water views.
