A window to the past

Collina Plantation is a fine example of planter style Greek Revival architecture. Located in historic Port Gibson,Mississippi just one mile off the beautiful Natchez Trace Parkway, it has been given its own designation on the National Register of Historic Places. Prior to the Civil War, Collina was the part-time residence of America's first sociologist Henry Hughes, who was also a Captain in the Confederacy. Exquisitely restored to its original grandeur, Collina is a perfect blend of fine period detail and contemporary comfort. Once run as a bed and breakfast, it is now a residence. The interior features 14' ceilings, original plaster ceiling medallions, woodwork and mantels. A spectacular 11'x35' entry foyer sets the tone of formal elegance. There are four bedrooms (or three bedrooms and an office), 3 1/2 new baths, formal dining room, parlour and library, all with period-appropriate chandeliers and custom formal drapery treatments. A large kitchen/family room features custom cypress cabinetry and professional Viking appliances.Collina is beautifully situated on a hill amidst 8 1/2 park-like acres with century old magnolias, azaleas, camellias and crepe myrtles. Also on the property are a new large workshop and a restored artist studio that could easily be converted into a guest house.
